Subject: the most powerful amp 4 the thunderform? IP: Logged
Message: right now i have a 400 watt prestige amp under my front passenger seat running my thunderform. the amp is rated at 300w RMS at 14.4v, so realistically its pushing probably like 250w RMS or maybe less. it hits pretty hard right now, but i know the thundeform can handle 500w RMS and i want to replace the amp that im currently using. so i was wondering what would be the best amp at the best price that would fit under the front seat?? i want more power so i can turn the crossover lower and get that "deeper" bass that sounds oh so good. i have a pioneer amp running the components so right now i actually have the sound faded a little to the subs because the highs are plenty loud.
i've seen people use the soundstream 500s. i was also looking at the rockford 360.2 which is rated at 360w RMS at 13.8v. ( i think it would fit without the endcaps)the MTX 6500d looks promising as well. does anyone use these amps? or is there any other amps i might want to look at?

Message: Getting anything under the seat will be a chore, so choose carefully. I have the MTX 6500D and it has more power then the subs can handle but I don't think it fits under the seat.
You may consider other class D amps, they are a little smaller and don't require as many amps.
Just about all the companies make a D amp now.

Message: Depending on what truck you have it may fit, the metal rod for the seat release would just touch the top of the amp, and I didn't want it getting scratched up.
I built a new back seat to house the amps, crossovers and cd changer. Kids can still sit back there but it wouldn't be comfortable for a taller person.
