Message: I keep getting a weird whinning noise threw my left speakers (Pok Audio Componets) I switched out the speakers and the head unit and I'm still picking up Engine noise i think tis called. The noise rises and lowers with my RPM's. Sounds like I have a super-charger and it gets really annoying at night when i want to listen to my music a little softer. Right now i just turn it off.. I work at circuit city and i've talked to everyone in Road Shop and all the surround stereo installation places.. No body seems to know what is causiing this noise... Does anyone know how to stop this noise?? Please help!

Message: nope, it is your ground. also if you are running an amp to them as apposed to the head unit you can alos pick it up if your power wire is too close to your rca's

Message: I had a similar problem but it was coming from the right side of the truck. As the RPM's increased the noise and racket from the other side of the truck was unbearable. Haven't been able to track it down yet but it seems go away when the wife leaves the truck ;) LOL
Seriously, this sounds like a grounding problem. Try jerry rigging a new ground wire from the deck's ground wire to a good chassis ground point or the battery. A wire nut, 15' of wire and a pair of vise grips for the battery terminal is enough to test the ground problem. Reroute the ground, start the truck and see if the problem goes away. If the problem disappears, cleanly reroute the ground the deck.

Message: Is the whining there when you are just running with the key on Acc? Have you tried switching the speaker wiring from the R/L to L/R?
I would try and eliminate the engine, speakers, deck, wife, etc. one by one.
Since it is just from one side, and you don't have an amp, I would suspect the HU is screwed up or the speaker wiring is bad. Switching the HU speaker wires from R/L to L/r will tell you this.
I thought that I had some engine noise in mine, but after turning the HU off for a day or two, I found that the engine makes a bit of a whine all by itself. You have eliminated this though...

Message: a couple questions..
1. do you have a body lift on your truck? if you do, then youll have to re-do your main ground. raising the body off the frame eliminates the ground because, well, because the body is off the frame. haha.
2. do you have the upgraded infinity factory system? if so, then you have a factory amplifier in the truck. when you put your new head unit in, you hooked up your speakers to that. that would mean the speakers are amplified twice.
either of these could potentially cause the problem. get back to me with your results!

2. I do that the Infinity sound system with comonets and all. I took those out and put in PolDb Componets but yes that would be there is a stock amplifier some where in the truck i need to remove....

Message: the stock amp is on the passenger side, under the panel. theres just a couple bolts that you take out. then youre going to need to unplug it and run new wires to your speakers and head unit. lots of work, but it MIGHT fix the problem. no guarantees, but dual amplificiation could do it. let me know the results!

Message: Alright, I'll think about doing that. I wanted to run new wires. Is that amp powerful at all? I'm putting in a MTX 4 -Channel soon to power my speakers so i wouldnt mind takin that one out...

Message: no, its not powerful. its like 5 watts per channel or something. but the thing is, dont quote me on this because im not sure, but POTENTIALLY, it the speakers could be running at a very low impedence, something like 1ohm or something. sometimes they do this to extract more power. so if, when you put in your new amp, or even your headunit for that matter, if you hook up the factory speakers, theyll fry your amp/headunit. i know, its confusing. its stupid that they do it like that. look around and see if you can get some specs on that factory infinity system. i had it in my truck too, and id like to know what was in there. let me know. and if you have any other questions (i know im not being very clear with all of this) then let me know. thanks.

Message: What I do is take a jumper wire (like from Radio Shack with the allegator ends) and ground one end. Then touch different places in the system to see when it goes away.
Many times if I touch the outer conductors of the RCA plugs it will go away and then I'll usually add a ground wire to the RCA's to a grounding screw in the truck.
Last month when I removed my head unit and installed the mini computer motherboard behind my left rear seat (Quad Cab) I had to add ground straps from each RCA going to the two amps and to the ground of the computer motherboard.
It's so quiet it's hard to tell if the computer is on or not. I can barely hear the CPU cooling fan. Once the computer is on it turns on the amps and I control then through the touch screen monitor up front.
Anyone ever had 120 Gigs of mp3 space in their Dak's before? It's the sh*t. I should have done this a long time ago. I don't have to keep burning mp3-cd's anymore. I just rip them or get them through my wireless network when in my own driveway. I've got about 4000 mp3's in the Dak's Hard Drive.
Anyway. Pull the panels from the amps and touch a grounded wire to the RCA's and what not. Don't touch them to any speaker wires or you'll let the smoke out of your amp!
