Subject: Question on speakers
IP: Logged

Message:
What speakers come stock with the daks? I have a 2000 clubcab, with the Infinity sound system. I added subs and left the stock Infinity system in. The speakers are 6 3/4" I believe, but I was wondering what the front speakers are? Are they component speakers, or are they just a regular speaker and an added tweeter up top? I blew a front one and I wanna know if I should get a pair of components or just a pair of regular 6 3/4" ones. Money isn't a big issue, but I'd rather not spend a whole hell of alot. Thanks.

If you have the tweeters, then I'm pretty sure the speakers are components. Haven't taken mine out to look though.

6 3/4" components in there. Wierd thing is the OEM tweeters and mids run off seperate channels of the amp. What this means is when you install aftermarket components you can't use the supplied Xover as there are seperate output wires for the tweeets and mids coming from the amp, no common wire to connect to the Xover. Just wire the tweets and mids to the stock wires as the wires have the correct freqeuncies going to them from the amp.

The stock speakers are 2 ohm's, so your replacement 4 ohm speakers won't be as loud as the stock speakers. Also, you can spend extra $$$ to get 6 3/4" speakers, but 6 1/2" speakers fit fine with a little extra work or the use of adapter rings. If you want a simple bolt in installation go with 6 3/4" or get the adapter rings for 6 1/2".

Thanks guys. I'm thinkin 'bout gettin a 6 3/4" set of components, then just pulling the old ones out and replacing everything with the aftermarket stuff, since it (hopefully) should just wire in and fit right where all the stock stuff sat, hopefully. Thanks again.
