A few weeks ago I installed an amp and a 12 inch sub into my 88 V6 Dakota. Everything was great except one day the truck started cutting out randomly and would just stop and not start up for a few minutes. The mechanic said it was an electrical malfunction and so he replaced the line to the fuel pump and a few other things and said it was fixed 450$. During this process the fuse to the amp has blown and a few other fuses including the taillights..kinda important, and the dashboard. None of these work now but i haven't tried to use the radio or anything and now the truck is cutting out on me again....if anyone knows anything I might do then please help..

Okay, im really not an expert on this, but I think you might have a problem with ur alternator. Im not sure tho.

alternator, hell no. but a good guess, as well a really important upgrade. older vehicles didnt use as much electrical equipment as they do now so the systems are underpowered. i had an 87 did similar things, i upgraded the alternator and as well the battery. afterwards i ran all new wires to all the power sources in the head unit "direct" meaning i used a lil bigger wire than factory one to the fuse box for the ignition wire battery junction ect. look into a bigger battery and alternator befor you do anything else then if u r comfortable w/wiring re-run new and a LITTLE bigger than stock power supply wires and as well install a CAP on you amp
