Message: I just replaced the OEM Infinity speakers in my Durango with Infinity Perfect 6.1 Components up front and Infinity Kappa 62.1i's in the rear doors. There is a HUGE difference in sound and looks. The OEM Infinity speakers are cheap looking and are made with foam surrounds and paper cones. They are no better than any other OEM type speaker except they have the word "Infinity" stamped on the back. The OEM speakers do not correspond to any Infinity speaker sold aftermarket. In my opinion they would only be worth about $10 anyway. Check out Crutchfield.com for more info on speakers.

Message: What size are the speakers in the quad?? Are they 6 1/2 or 6/34. Do you think if I put components in the rear also it would sound better. I have them in the front. I want to replace everything with the kappas. Can you use the stock amp? Just plug them in??

Message: BT - is right on! I had the "Infinity" sound system in my '97 Eclipse GST... it was the biggest waste of money EVER! The speakers were crap and no different from any other stock speaker I've seen/heard except for the logo and price tag :( I should have know better after all my years in car audio, but I'm a sucker for Infinity since they sound SO good, even have a complete home system with them.
Python97 - I assume the factory amp can handle a 4 ohm load, so a set of Kappas would be great! Go to www.crutchfield.com to see what fits or take off the door panel and measure yourself. I would put seperates in the front and co-axes in the rear. No need to spend big $ on rear speakers, they just help "fill" in the sound, in fact your should run your fader at about 3/4 (75%) to the front to keep a good front sound stage like a concert/movie. Most people have way too much rear fill, just go to stereo contest and you'll quickly notice how all the winning systems have almost all thier mids/highs up front and only subs in the back.

Message: Speakers are 6 3/4" all around.
Don't bother with the rear speakers the stock ones will do that job fine. When you go to a concert you generally face the stage, that is why it is important to have most of the music coming from the front.
Your factory stereo will power them o.k. but an aftermarket source will sound better.

Message: The stock Infinitys are indeed no more that any other OEM speaker... even the front "separates".
I justified buying the Infinity package for the steering-wheel controls.
I put an amp in as soon as I got my truck home from the dealer, and I smoked a tweeter within a couple of weeks.
If you're running (or planning to run) ANY amp, replace the stockers. I also used all Kappas, cuz REAL Infinity speakers are sweet. Just don't waste your time ($$$) with their amps. Can anyone guess why Infinity no longer produces amps?

Message: Broeheem - do the "real" Kappa tweets fit behind the stock sail pillar (that small triangle in the corner of the window)?
Can you order that part from the dealer without the tweeter? I love to the put my system in and keep it completely hidden behind factory grills.

Message: Infinity, like many other manufacturers, has multiple production lines that differ in quality. Ranging from the sh!tty stuff they supply the OEM with all the way upto the Perfect Series. Perfect series sounds great, but costs boocoo bucks, the Kappa series will probably give you the most bang for your buck.
The best way to tell what sounds good, be it Sony, Kenwood, Polk, Infinity, or any other brand is to go and LISTEN to them. Don't just take everyone's opinion on how they sound. You might be surprised by what you hear.

Message: JMII....
Yeah, the tweeters fit, but you have to remove the stock tweeters from the housings, and trim away a little plastic from the housings.
Definately worth the trouble, though. You shouldn't have to buy any other parts.

Message: I replaced the rear speakers in my Durango with 6 3/4" Pioneer coax. I liked the sound of the stock speakers better. I have now blown the front infinitys and want to replace them with stock speakers but don't want to pay 95.00ea (dealer) for them. Where can I find the stock infinity speakers for a reasonable price... or a really efficient set which will work well with the stock amp?

Message: Bill B
Your KAPPA 63.5's will fit in the doors.
I just finished installing the 60.5cs's last week and they are the same depth. 2-3/16. I installed both in front doors last week and my two for my rear doors will be here tomorrow and will be installing those this weekend.
They'll fit.

Message: I have the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's and I tried to get them put into my 2001 Saturn L-200.
The car stereo installer said the speakers don't fit because the have their own cast basket which makes them too big for the doors.
Q.1. Is there a way to put them in without cutting the stock speaker grilles out?
Q.2. Does anyone make aftermarket speaker grilles with the map-pocket but with a bigger grille to still have the original look?
Q.3. Should I cut out the speaker grille out then put the speakers in and then put then infinity grilles over the speakers?
Q.4 What should I do?
