 Subject: Amp+Sub not working??

I have an 88 dakota, I just installed a new subwoofer amp because I only want to power the sub with it. I wired all of the wires correctly I think except it says the wires are for amps up to 250 watts. When I turn on my truck the amp doesn't even power up anymore(It did a few times, but even then the sub didn't make any noise). Any ideas??

with the exception of the grounding wire, I'm not sure where to out the grounding wire. What does that do and any ideas where i should ground it to?

the ground completes the circuit...no complete circuit, no working amp...connect it to a bare peice of metal...
