Subject: amp fuse keeps blowing
IP: Logged

Message:
we just installed a new amp in my buddys car. its a profile 600M. we hooked it up right and everything...

after its hooked up, we go to reinstall the fuse(60 amp) in the power wire (4 guage), and the fuses (3 20 amp fuses) on the amp blow. we then tried it by leavin the fuse in the power wire, and just unhooking it from the battery, same thing when we connected it. we did this 3 times... any suggestion?

There's something wrong with the amp. Those fuses on the amp are there to protect from an internal fault. If they keep blowing every time you apply power, then the amp is f***ed.

you can also have a short, such as a connector to the
amp hitting anything metal or connecter touching
another

IME, that would pop the fuse on the battery cable, not the amp's internal fuse(s).

man try putting a 35 amp in it and see if it blows if it does than you got a power surge somewhere between your amp and alt,or batt. if it dosent start making your way down in fuse sises till it blows again then go up one more. you just may not have the right amp fuse.

why do people try do do such silly things around electricity? If it's blowing fuses instantly, then he can keep putting bigger fuses in there all he wants until the power cable overheats and burns his car up. If the proper value of fuse pops the instant you apply power, then there is something wrong with the amplifier and it needs to be fixed.

Yep the amp is toast. I've seen it a million times. The last thing you want to do is put a bigger fuse in. But hey if you really wanna see something cool then just put a piece of wire there instead, lol.
