I'm an electronics novice, really hate dealing with the stuff. I have a friend of mine that works at the Dodge house and he got me a replacement 6 3/4" infinity sub for his cost of around $48 for my 2000 Dak QC. It was easy out/easy in. Now the other one has blown. I don't really mind upgrading, I just don't want to have to deal with a retro-fit, if possible. Also, the quality of the factory system is great to me, and I'd like to keep the same basic sound and not lose and of the mix. I don't really care for "thump-thump" base, I live on a corner in a sub-division and get enough of that already!! LOL But I don't want to by a set of 3 or 4-ways that won't do me any good, improve my sound quality or cause me to have to go back and rewire (which is beyond my capabilities anyway). Any ideas or should I just give the man a $50, install the same ole same ole and head on down the road?

The stock speakers are pretty cheap quality wise, not price wise. I think Crutchfield has Pioneer speakers (and probably others) that come with adapter mounts and harness adapters, ask thier sales people about the adapter mounts and harness.

Only problem I have heard about upgrading from the stock Infinity 2 ohm speakers to aftermarket 4 ohm speakers, it that the new 4 ohm speakers are not as loud as the old 2 ohm speakers. It's not going to hurt anything running the 4 ohm speakers, just might not be as loud.
