Alpine type R's are great, and if you want components go with type X's, they have the greatest SQL.

Do they mount the same as the stock speakers or do they need to be modified?

Concept cfn-650 sounded great in my 02 cc.
when you replace you speakers make sure they seal well. and maybe apply some dampening material to yyou doors(stops the buzzing/vibrations)
If you can find some Morel integras..buy them!!
Great bottom end..shallow depth too. I've used Morel in cars/trucks(my latest install is a 2004 Freightliner)
IN fact Morels can play very very low..I've installed some in a subless system and ran them full range, people looked for a sub!!!

Andrew,

Whatever speakers you get, you will probably have to drill 4 new holes in the door. Dodge has a funky -3- screw design to hold on the speakers. Aftermarket speakers have a -4- screw design.

If you don't want to drill holes, www.sounddomain.com has some adapters for less than $10. I have been told that Alpine speakers already come with the adapter.

Just updating everyone on my speaker situation. I bought some Pioneer 6.5 speakers TS-A1780R. They sound really good and were pretty inexpensive. They mounted right up to the factory holes for the speaker mounts. Just make sure you use some sound damping material. So you don't get any rattles. Ohh and the Haynes manual helps in getting the door panel off and it is a good investment all around.
