Subject: Stereo Troubleshooters??

OK, since I had my last question answered so thoroughly, heres another one.

My stereo has a ticking sound....almost like a clock....It doesnt fluctuate or change speeds...It started when I installed my amp...I used to have this amp feeding my thunderform and my head unit powering my speaks...Then decided it wasnt enough power for the t-form...so I got a bigger amp for the t form and I am now using this amp for my front componants and the head unit for the rears....any ideas? I installed a ground loop isolater which did away with the annoying whine, but the ticking remains

Are the RCA cables too close to the power cable? If you run them down opposite sides of the truck, you dont get any whine even without the isolater. If they are next to each other, I would suggest moving them at least a few feet apart, other than that I have no clue.

Yeah yo, they are next to eachother....I was going to move em because Ive heard guys say that they interfere, but It was always set up that way and never had a prob before...also, I am, using rockford fosgate RCAs whick have a grounding wire in it, which i believe should help that prob...well, if I dont get any other ideas, I think i just might move em apart and see what happens...its such a PITA though

I know you challanged my thinking on another post but listen up: I had the same RCA cables like yours and that little wire was actually meant to be a remote turn on wire. Even if you were to use it as a ground it wouldn't stop your RCA from getting noise from other electrical sources. The noise has probably always been there, but when you had just the sub hooked up to your amps it could not produce that higher frequency noise so you never heard it. So keep your power away from the RCA cables and you should eliminate your ticking. Good Luck!
