Message: I am wondering if the factory 6 disk changer deck for 2004 has the ability to read MP3's. I know that on the Ram and the Viper, the 6 disk changer deck can read MP3's.
My truck came equiped with the 6 disk changer but the dealer swapped it out with the single CD/tape unit. They are installing the 6 disk changer deck as per the window sticker on my new Dak next week.

Nope.

No it can't. It's the same radio that is offered in the Dakota (RBQ). The only Chrysler radios that can play MP3s are the new CAN-Bus radios (RAQ, RAK, and REC) in the Durango and 300/Magnum.

Message: Jim,
You're quite correct. I went to a Dodge dealer and they had working radios on display. I tried an MP3 disk in them all and none worked. The one you mention does play them according to the specs.
My info on the MP3's playing in Rams and Vipers came from the salesman who sold me my truck... I can't believe I trusted that info ;)
Since my truck came with the 6 disk changer I'll use it for a while anyway. I don't want to lose the ability to use the steering wheel controls.
What I'd like to find is a way have an aux input into the factory deck. I'd like to pipe in audio from my ipod. Do you know if there is anyway to do that?
