Message: Brandon,
Water-proof roofing membrane is about the same thing as Dynamat and one heck of alot cheaper. It's not as pretty as Dynamat, but who's going to be looking under the door panels of your truck? I got a couple rolls from my neighbor so I don't know how much it costs, but you can get it at Home Depot, Lowes or a place that specilizes in roofing materials.

Message: i use the Owens-Corning Weather-Loc....roofing stuff.....got it at lowes for $35/90sqft....ALOT cheaper than dynamat...tghe only problem is if you're doing multiple layers, you have to get all the 'sand' stuff off the top for the next layer to stick well...

Message: oh wow, that is a heck of a lot cheaper! thanks for the suggestions. does it work just about the same as dynamat? how much should i buy and where should i put it? would i have to take out all the seats and carpet and everything? sounds like it might be a little difficult, and definitely time consuming, but im sure it would be worth it. how do you take out the back seat in the club cab? any tips would be GREATLY appreciated, im a rookie. thanks so much!

Message: SQDak, the water-proof membrand that I used didn't have sand/gravel on the back side. It was a sheet of clear plastic with a thick layer of super sticky tar on the face. I have heard it called b1tch-a-thane because once it's stuck down it it's a b1tch to get off.

Message: Ive heard that especially in hot climates using roofing material can make the inside of your truck smell like tar....is that true? Or maybe the guy who said that just used the wrong stuff (most likely). Anyone?

Message: Go to Lowe's
roofing section
look for "Peel and Seal"
comes in a roll about 6" wide.
I live in ATL, it gets pretty hot here LOL, absolutely no tar smell.

Message: Hey, I thought I was the only cheapskate using that stuff. I used it inside the rear door behind a 10" sub (see picture of the installation in the post "Another QC sub option"). I layered it two plies thick, for added insurance. The stuff I'm using is about 6" wide, has aluminum foil on one side and butyl rubber (no tar) on the sticky side. It's used as a flashing in home construction, but it has good dampening qualities, and it's stickier than a Sugar Daddy on your dash board.

Message: I just covered my sisters escort last night and this morning with the Peel and Seal. It sounds A LOT better. It took about 8 hours from start to finish. I am going to to my truck sometime in the next month, I am thinking it will only take around 5 hours though.

Message: checked again tonight, my stuff is weather-loc....prolly pretty close to the peal and seal stuff...haven't got a stink yet, and the truck has been sitting in a suuuper hot garage for the past two weeks.....
really, all we're looking for in our application is something dense/heavy that sticks well and bends easily......anyone that can't find the stuff at lowes/home depot might want to look up 'nigh temp mastic' at mcmaster-carr's website... www.mcmaster-carr.com ?
