Subject: Rear panel removals IP: Logged
Message: Hey,
This has probably been answered before, but I wasn't having any luck with the search feature finding what I needed. I have a '99 dodge dakota club cab with the infinity sound system. The back speakers are blown and I need to replace them. I know the seatbelt needs to be taken off with a torque head, but I don't see any other screws to take off the panels. How exactly do the panels in the rear come off and is there a certain order I should start removing them in??
I am going to replace all the equipment in the truck in the next month and was wondering where other people installed an aftermarket amp in a '99 club cab. I am interested in the an Alpine MRP-F240 - 40W x 4 Car Amplifier that is 10-1/2"W x 2-7/16"H x 9-9/16"D in size. Any recommendations for install locations?? I was concerned with putting it under the seats because of overheating.
Thanks for any help yall can give.
Richie

Message: there are two screws...pop off the back panel/back rest, and you'll see the side panel attached to the back wall of the cab....the rest is just pressure clips...it's not absolutely neccesary to take the seat belts out, but it makes it alot easier...
as for the amp, if it will physically fit in the rear seat tray, go for it. if you have concerns about the heat, just lift the seats up.

Message: Would removing the panel be similar for an RC?

Message: A RC is easy to remove, just remove the baby seat strap/tie down and the other push clip next to it I believe. Slide the whole back panel to the side then pull it out on the opposite side that you slid it to.

Message: I have two amps...one mounted under each seat. No problems with overheating...just make sure that on hot days if you have the music cranked to keep the vents on bi-level so air circulates under the seats.
