Subject: Problems with electrical IP: Logged
Message: I was installing a Pioneer head unit on my 1999 Dakota Sport and I forgot to disconnect the negative battery terminal when installing it. i installed everything and tested it out, but to my dismay i found that not only did my head unit not work but that i had also lost my dome light as well. I checked the fuse already but it was ok. I was wondering if anybody had run into this problem before on a 99, I've seen a post about it on a 93 before but it didnt help me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Message: The radio is fed by two fuses, one labeled "radio" which is the key-on feed, and another shared with the interior light circuit. Your dome light is out because you blew that fuse. check 'em all and you'll find the bad one.

Message: I'd check that blown fuse again and see if its blown again. If it is then you may have mixed up a ground or power wire. did you use a pigtail connector to avoid cutting and splicing the factory harness? If not make sure all your connections are properly taped or shrink wraped.

Message: hey ive had that problem on my 94 dakota what you need to do is pop your hood and find where your relays are. when you do that open the cover and there should be some fuses take a test light and check out all the fuses if you find the problem it will all go back to work
