Subject: 8 ohm sub PLEASE HELP
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 8 ohm jl 10 in sub and a pioneer 760 watt peak power amp. IT operates at an RMS of 380x1 for a 4 ohm sub. (this is bridged) That meaans since I have an 8 ohm sub im only getting about 190 watts. Does anyone know a way to wire the sub to the amp to get an impedence of only 4 ohms. Please help. Thanks.

Todd, i think it might be dvc but how do I know for sure. If so How would I run a single sub in series. Thanks for your time, it is greatly appreciated.

How many connections does the sub have? 2 connections = single voice coil sub, 4 connections (2+ and 2-) = a DVC sub.

Best thing to do is get a 4 ohm sub and ditch the 8 ohm sub. The only way to make your 8 ohm sub look like 4 ohms is to run it in parallel with another 8 ohm sub. If you want 4 ohms, your going to be buying a sub either way.

Matt, go to rockfordfosgate.com and you'll find all the information you will need for connecting subs in parallel, series, building boxes, etc, etc.

matt, if u have a DVC sub there r 2 pos. and 2 neg. on the back of the sub. to run it in a series take a "jumper wire" and connect one pos. to the opposite neg. and then tat will leave u a pos. from one coil and a negative from the opp. coil. then u can bridge it on the amp. same with the other sub if u have or get 2. parallel is of course running all the pos. together and all the neg. together and finally bridging it on the amp. u may just need to get another amp. email me i have 3 diff systems 3 amps 3 set of subs ect maybe i may be of some help .
