 Subject: Aftermarket speakers don't fit?

I have a 97 Dak sport RC, and I went to Best Buy to get a new deck and door speakers installed. I left the truck there, and some 30 minutes later they called and told me the deck and the front 2 speakers are installed, but they can't install the 2 behind the seats due to lack of space?
They said they'd have to do something special that they don't do there, so I'm SOL. What's all that about?

They probably werent the right depth or something. Check crutchfield for speakers that fit your application. As long as depth and stuff like that is OK, you can always just make new mounting holes.

So since I have 5.25" rear speakers (1998 RC), does that mean not all 5.25" aftermarkets rears will just bolt right in (not including the wiring which i know won't just connect right up)?

Damn u best buy.
What do the speakers in the rear of a RC mount up to? The body, or the plastic lining?
I was told 6.5's, so I'm sure that's why they didn't fit, but I would think they would have told me that smaller speakers could fit.....they told me, aftermarket speakers wouldn't fit period.

i have a 98 with boston pro series 5.25 in the rear and 6.5 in the front, they are huge, hella loud, and hella sweet. trust me you have plenty plenty room. you could prob. easily fit 6.5 subwoofers on cut out for 8" subwoofers in your door w/ no problem.

Thanks Ralph, but I was trying to get some componet speakers back there for some mid range sound. Do you think a regular 5.25 speaker will fit in the stock hole? what does it mount to?
