Subject: 4" Speakers Need Bass Blockers?... IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I've finally decided to perform a small upgrade to my second car's audio system. It's an 1989 Camry with room for 6.5"'s in the back and, unfortunately, only 4"'s in the front. I've decided to put in the Infinity Reference 6002I and the 4002I respectively. I already have an aftermarket cd player and I don't plan on adding either an amp or subwoofer in the future. My major issue is whether or not I should bass block the 2 front 4" speakers.
I've spoken to a tech from Best Buy who said I definitely should and a tech from Circuit City who said it wasn't necessary...the CC guy also went on to say that Best Buy has a reputation for wanting to bass block everything. I mainly listen to rock music and like it moderately loud. Should I bass block the 4's in the front?...If so, what frequency should I use as the cutoff? Thanks for the help guys!!

Message: cut-off point should be 100-150hz with a 12db/octive slope.
