Message: I was thinking about installing a DVD Player in my 2001 QC. The questions I have is does the sound play through the truck speakers? And What other option may I have instead of installing on in the dash. Maybe an overhead console one or the middle console between the two front seats? Anyone know where I can find them for the Dakota QC's? Thanks.

Message: Yes, the sound plays through your existing speakers, but there are a ton of hidden costs! You need more than just the unit by itself. A Digital Decoder/Processor - so that the sound can be played through the speakers which is about $400 - $500, a mounting kit/ custom fabrication for fitting monitors can run upwards of $300, RC jacks for monitor input are $40 a piece. Good luck if you do it, I would like to see how it comes out. go to www.thezeb.com and they will treat you good. I just spent about $8k with them. Good people. And they'll beat anyones price, just ask :-)

Message: There is actually alot of options. You can use a freestanding monitor and put it on a cell phone mount although this is not as asthetically pleasing as a console it usually the least expensive way to go. You can also you use something like the kvt911dvd from kenwood, although pricey(msrp $2400.00) it will do it all. It is touchscreen with dvd, cd, cdr, sirius sat ready, tv tuner, with built in power. If you do go with just a seperate monitor and a dvd player though there is no need to get a processor. You can get a rf modulator for about $60. The sound is not as good but it works, or alot of hu's have an auxilary input. Yes you can put in a overhead console I do them all of the time. I would reccomend taking it a professional for that though. Anyway there are alot of options if you give me an idea of which direction you would like to head I can give you more indepth info.

Message: Im really not sure what to go with. I would like to go with the in dash console but the people in the back seat of the truck would be able to see as well. An overhead console might be good to. I would probably just go with the in dash so I could control everything from there. What brands should I look for? I don't need a lot of money wrapped up in it but something easy. I live in Indiana about 40 miles south of Fort Wayne. Anywhere I might be able to find something? Thanks for the info!!! Its greatly appreciated!

Message: the major brands are alpine, kenwood, eclipse, pioneer, panasonic. Eclipse is good but if does ever break to my knowledge they do not have factory authorized service here in the us so you have to send it to japan, which takes a long time. Alpine has a lower cost option to the indash screen (cva1003 $1300-$1400) if you add either a outboard dvd player or a playstation2 it hits a pretty low price point. Pioneer you have to add a brain to it to get am/fm tuner as well as deck power. The other problem I percieve with the pioneer is that you have to use 2 remotes just to play a dvd. The panasonic also needs an outboard module. Both of these modules put the price above or at the price of the kenwood dependong where you get it. The kenwood has all of the above and more plus it is easy to use. Panasonic is offering a low cost alternative to these through my company and Im sure through others of a 6.8" overhead screen with a dvd player for about $1300- $1400. If there is tweeter store near you try them I think they carry all of the brands above it has been a while since I have been to one though. You can also try a reputable mom and pop shop. I am in Florida my company is not up there
