Subject: Amp for Type R 10 IP: Logged
Message: I just pick up a Alpine Type R 10 in a custom Alpine slotted box. What would be a good amp to drive it? I am looking for clean bass. It is going in a extended cab, and the other speakers in the truck are infinity reference 6.5in.

Message: Just make sure you get an amp that is rated at the same RMS
wattage as the Type R (which i believe is around 300RMS, yes?)
or slightly higher. If you're concious about sticking with the
same brands, go with the Alpine MRD-500. Appropriate wattage,
plus same brand as the sub, which some people are sticklers
about because manufacturers test their subs with their own
amps, so you know power ratings will be more accurate. If you
find an MRD-501, its basically the same thing as the 500 except
it has a lot more features, but they can only be fully taken
advantage of if you've got an Alpine head unit. Other brands to
consider: Audiobahn, Autotek, Eclipse, Kicker. I've had good
experiences with all of them. Some good sites to visit are
www.ikesound.com www.thezeb.com www.onlinecarstereo.com
or www.savinglots.com , they've all got pretty competetive
prices. Good luck!

Message: Is that loaded with a dual-voice-coil woofer? If so, the MRD-M300 or 301 will push 300w RMS to it if you run the coils in parallel. Good match.

Message: I'm running a type R 10 with a MRD-M300, they match up perfectly, 300 watts RMS. Sounds great, i'd say thats your best bet.
