I have recently turned 16 and I am new to the car audio world. I would like some help on how to install my system, and how it will sound in my truck. I have a 97 dakota extended cab.

My system is (all alpine)

HU: CDA-9807 (I have already installed this)
Front: SPR-136A 5.25" Component Type R Speakers
Back: SPR-694A 6x9" Coaxial Type R speakers
Speaker Amp: MRV-F340 4 channel Amp
Subs: SWR-1041D 2 10" Type R subs
Sub Amp: MRD-M301

My friend has made designs for a custom box to fit my subs and amps in underneath the back seat. Please let me know how much it would cost to get all this installed professionally, and how much it would cost to do it myself, and the difficulty of the installation. Thanks for all help in advance

hmmm... Aparently the websites that told me the factory back speakers were 6x9 were wrong. I pulled back the panel, and saw that they were 6 1/2, so I installed them in my mom's Sebring. I am buying some Alpine Type R's that will actually fit the speaker slot in the Dakota.

the shop i went to for some stuff charges $60/hr. but they give diff quotes depending on what they're doing. for example, amp installation is $xx and hu inst is $yy, but if you do them at the same time they charge a little less since the dash is already off.
you should be able to get free quotes wherever you take it, then think if thats worth it to have them do it versus you for free. (free labor anyway).

hey, im 17 and i had my two kicker cvr10s in a custom fiberglass box that fit under my rear seats, (with the seats down it looked totally stock). it wasnt hard at all and i did all the install and wiring myself. i think you will get more satisfaction if you do it yourself, thats if you like doing that kind of stuff. in my new truck tho (chevy colorado--sorry dakota lovers), i got my amp professionaly installed so that i wouldnt void my warrenty. to put the amp in was 112 bucks, 55 labor, 30 for wires, and 25 for the level convertors. i have to admit, there is something to be said for having it done professionaly, it looks and sounds great, and if anything goes wrong they will usually fix it for free. so, whatever you think

I'd say install it all yourself, its not that difficult, just takes some time. the only cost you'll have is the sub box and the wiring, which will be a lot less than getting it all installed somewhere. Plus you'll get some experience and get to know the ins and outs of car audio. I did all the installs on my dak myslef, all alpine as well,91 regulur cab sport

HU CDA-9833
Front SPX-137A 5 1/4 and tweets
No rear yet...regular cab don't think i need them...well maybe
Amp MRD-M300
Sub SWR-1021D Type R sub
Speaker Amp not yet purchased, but soon...

And if you have any problems, just ask, answers are always there if you ask the right people.

O yeah, and make sure you connect your HU right to the battery and don't use factory wiring cause you will burn it to a crisp just like i did :(
kinda funny now that i think of it!
