Message: hey, a guy i was just gettin advice about the same thing your askin said that there are two bolts(upper and lower) holding on the rear seat brackets to the back wall and you might be able to get away with just bolting the brackets to the top bolt and leaving the bottom. that way the seats should still fold up and you gain that 1-2 in u need which is prolly what i'm gonna try too.
let me know how it works if you try it.

Message: Hey,
well mine appears to be different. There are just two bolts for each hinge and they are level with eachother. I can't move all the hinges up as the back wall is not level with eachother all along besides where they are already bolted. I'm just going to build my box first and worry about the seats after. Probably going to have to build a metal bracket to level the hinges all they way accross.

Message: Doh! my bad,,,,,,, Mikey is right, the seat bracket bolts are side by side not up and down. Must have been thinking of another seat bracket, or something.
Sorry for the mis-information Nate Dawg and Mikey.
The seats do have some adjustment up and down though, if you grind the bracket slots even more you might get more than an inch. Think I moved mine to the bottom of the stock slots and gained 1/2" to 3/4" over the stock adjustments.
Have access to a welder? You could weld a tab to the bottom of the stock seat bracket.
