Subject: Speakers still clicking IP: Logged
Message: I posted aboput a week ago about a clicking noise in my speakers after installing an after market CD. It was suggested that I ground the unit better. Did this using a 12 gauge wire and still have the problem. Should I use a heavier gauge speaker wire? Any othe suggesteions would be appreciated. Thanks

Message: Put in a JVC CD and have Rockford Fosgates behind the seats. Stock speakers still in doors. Have a clicking noise in the speakers at higher volumes. Used a heavier gauge(12)wire and grounded to the chassis. Still have noise.

Message: What year is your truck? In older daks, the door speakers could possibly be hitting the door panel. I had that problem and shaved some of the inside of the panels off.

Message: Demon,
How long is your groind wire for your amp? You want to make it as short as possible. Where is it grounded at? What year dakota?
You gronded the deck to the chassis or the amp?
In any case if you have an amp, how are you running the wires? (are you running the power with the rcas?) You need to be really specific when talking about problems woth car audio over the internet due to the fact that everyone cannot SEE what you have done. This goes for anyone having troubles. BE SPECIFIC, EXACT if possible. I would love to help anyone, just need to know whats the deal... ya know...
It could be a number of things, thats why I need to know exactly.
I want to help ok.

Message: No amp yet. Just grounded to the truck chassis, about 18" of 12 gauge wire. Thought the heavier gauge would work better. The clicking is coming from all four speakers. Did not have this problem with my other after market CD player or the original radio. The JVC is 4 X 50 watts so I don't think I am overpowering my speakers. The guy I got the Rockfords from had a 500 watt amp on them and they sounded great.
I have a 2000 Dakota Sport.

Message: Well you didnt really need the heavier gauge wire. Im guessing its bottle necked down at the HU wire harness right? In that case it wouldnt matter the ga. What I would suggest is finding another ground location. Make sure when you ground it you make sure the ground is bare metal. Put the ground in a location that isnt close to any moving parts, make sure it isnt close to any power sources as well. From there without having been able to see it to know exactly whats going on I dont know how much more help I can be. If you have a digi cam take a few pics and send em to me. Maybe if I can see what all is going on I can give you a couple more tips.
