Message: You will need to upgrade your battery, alternator and wires if you are going to run things at 1ohm. The high amperage will put a very large load on your electrical system and shorten the life of the amp, even if they say they can handle 1 ohm.
All the Series-1, RF, Punch, & Punch Power amplifiers are recommended for use to 2 ohms per channel, or 4 ohms when bridged. Lower impedances may cause thermal shutdown or premature failures, so we don't recommend using them below their rated loads.
There are some exceptions: The older Power 50.1 and 50m mono-block amplifiers are recommended for loads to 1 ohm, and the 50.2 and 50x2 2-channel amplifiers are rated for use to 1 ohm per channel or 2 ohms when bridged. Many of our customers use the 50.1 & 50m at 1 ohm loads with great success and incredible output!
We are also making new Power series amplifiers capable of low-impedance loads! Our new Power 150a1, 200a1, and bd1000a1 mono-block amplifiers all make the highest amount of power at 2-ohm loads!

Message: So... I'm getting the new 600.4 Punch Amp. and I plan on running the two rear channels as bridged to my two JL8W3's which are wired in parallel I guess. the subs are DVC
What load would that impose?
thanks for your help.

Message: I just got that from the Rockford help section, I do home mortgage loans for a living.
The JL subs (2) can be wired together for a 1ohm mono load or a 4 ohm mono load. Since they are 8s and your probably going to use a good amp, you may want to hook them up so its a 4 ohm load. You will be happy with the SPL and it won't kill your electrical system. You will only get another 3-4 dB with the 1 ohm load at maximum volume.
Another option is to hook them up in stereo with a 2 ohm load and that may net you a good setup.

I am a licensed loan officer, and work with a broker. But I can be a broker if I wanted to shell out some extra $s.

Message: i have 2 jl audio 12w7's . i have a rockford fosgate power bd1500 amp . it's birth sheet states 1773 rms watts . at a 2 ohm load max. i want to run both w7's mono , but that makes it a 1.5 mono load . does any body know if the amp will do ok ? i have read negatives about trying to run it at 1 ohm , but i wonder if it would shorten the life of the amp at a 1.5 ohm load , or cut off on me . thanks , steve

Message: First off, are in the same boat as me steve, I would get another bd 1500 and run each sub off seperate amps. The amp will run it because the subs even thought they are wired for a 1.5 ohmn load, they won't always be pulling that much power and it should work fine. Your amp was also rated at around 15.4 volts if it is was tested the same as my power 750x and they are around 75% efficent so you aren't going to get 1700 watts of power no matter what you do, and the W7's love power to work right. Hope that helps.
Hey jeff,
I am guessing that your subs are the 12 HE's, which are the same ones I was using in my car. I used a Eclipse 33230 amp that put out 310x2 at 4 ohmn, that set-up slamed pretty good in the crappy q-logic bandpass box they were in. As a rule, give the subs more power than less, you shouldn't fry them giving them around 250-300 watts rms, they work better with more power anyways. Find a good mono sub amp that is 2 ohmn stable, like a RF bd 500, parallel wire the voice coils to make a 2 ohmn load and it should work fine. Hope that helps, sorry for the long post..
later,
Andrew

Message: I have some experience building Wilkinson and rat-race divider/combiners. Now, I want to build a non-coherent 4 outputs series-parallel divider for 800 MHz band. I am not sure if the power amplifiers impedances are always 50 ohms for the up and down signals. As in the series-parallel dividers two amplifiers are in series, itīs very important to have always 50 ohm as aparent impedance (resistive) at each amplifier.
As I have not instrument for impedance measurements, I am asking if someboby have some idea about the aparent impedance variation of the
up and down amplifiers of the two-way rf systems.

Message: I have a Eclipse 33230 and i just got 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12's and a sealed box. I dont know if that amp will be powerfull enough to bump those subs. I would like to run it at 2 ohms because that would make it much more powerful but i am new to this whole car audio thing and i dont know hoe to do it. Please help!!!!!!!
