Message: If you are putting together a nice sounding system that you want above avg. bass, go with the type R. If it is intersection thumping bass you are going for then you u want the type X. Look at the specs, 300 wats RMS on the type R vs. 1000 on the type X, If you are willing to spend on the amp to supply that power, and give up your back seats to have a box with that kind of air volume that is needed with the type X then go for it. But the price difference is also big between the two subs. It is up to you, but if you have the $ I would say go for it, they are the most kick ass subs you will buy anywhere. Hope I helped

Message: Since my dak is a 91 reg. cab, i'm a little short of space for the type x!! I have a type R between the bucket seats, ran by a 300W rms v12 amp, and i think that is quite sufficient for my little truck! I was just wonderin if anyone had heard them cause if i had the space and money to get one, i think i would. The rest of my systen consists of type x components in the doors, and a cda-9833 deck. I will be buying a 2 X 50W RMS amp for the components, but for now they are just running from the deck, which is only 26W RMS, just a little under powered.

Message: Sounds like a nice system. I am running infinity Kappa components in the front off a MTX thunder 4202 50 WattX2 RMS at 2OHMs. I have the alpine CDA-9830 for a head unit, and I am running infinity Kappa 2ways in the back off of it. Under the back seat I have 2 R-10s in a stealth box powered by the MTX 505? have to look at the model # again, 250W RMS X2 with a monster cable digi Cap 1 fared for my capacitor. Runnin it in a 1997 CC 5.2 V8 sport. Those subs really hit, and with the MTX amp, very clean.

Message: Nice system, if only i had more room in my truck...
I could always cut the back of the cab and join the box i guess...

Message: yea you could do that, but then you start to get into alot more cost, and complex work. For what you have to work with you got a nice system, just like you said, more room=more boom.
