Subject: NEED IMEDIATE HELP with Speaker Install
IP: Logged

Message:
I am in the process of removing the door panel of my 2000 dakota CC and I can not get the wiring harness undone from the power windows/locks. Either I don't have the touch or I am doing something wrong. It looks like I should be able to push down a little button on the back side and then pull it loose but I can't. Any help would be nice cause I am installing them at this moment.

Ok so I figured that out but now I am into deeper water. The kid who had the truck before me had installed a 700 dollar Eclipse head unit that doesn't have an internal amp. So he installed an amp under the passenger seat. I assumed that he had just rewired everything and ran wires the the stock speakers. But after removing the stock speakers I found that they still have the factory wiring harnesses. This is a problem because the factory speakers are 2 ohm and aftermarket are 4 ohm. Does anyone know if it is possible to wire an amp into the factory amp and then into the factory speakers. And if that is the case then I will have to rewire which would suck. I am just lookin for ideas to how you all think he wired it so maybe I don't have to rip my cab apart chasing wires.

Yeah those little clips are a B!TCH aren't they :(

Do you have the factory amp? If so I don't see how the first system was wired up cause it would not have worked running one amp into the factory amp - bad things would happen (I assume).

The wires themselves have nothing to do with ohm load, only the speakers and HOW they are wired (IE + to + parallel vs + to - series)

I think that the kid did what I did in my truck. I didn't want to have to rewire all the speakers to the doors so I tapped into the factory harness at the output of the infinity amp located on the passenger side kick panel. Take a look & see if he spliced into the output wire from the infinity amp located there. You just have to remove the sill plate on the door (just pressure clips holding it in place) & remove the screw holding the kick panel in place then it should slip out of place. You will see the stock infinity amp there.

Best of luck,
Zardoz
