Don't want some sort of "bass monster" (I'm 41 and don't like that junk) rollig down the street but just want to upgrade what I got w/o messing up what's already in there...Thanx fer any help, Marty

in my opinion, the best and easiest thing that you could do is to get an aftermarket CD player...they have alot more power than that stock one you have now...that was the first thing that I did to my Dakota (stero wise) and it made a world of difference to my factory Infinity speakers

I agree with 360, but if you want to keep the factory head unit, then you can buy an amp with speaker level inputs, and upgrade the speakers themselves.

I would suggest just a speaker upgrade first, again, if you want to keep the factory head unit. After that you can see if you want more power, or a headunit upgrade. A step-wise upgrade approach will let you hear the improvements at each step. Then you can stop went you want.

My first step was upgrading the speakers, using the factory head unit. This did improve the sound by itself. The next step was replacing the factory head unit. Another improvement.

Then I added an external amp, then another speaker upgrade, then a sub and an amp....
