Subject: Amp wiring IP: Logged
Message: i have a question. i'm planning to connect a 4 channel amp to the factory headunit. Want to use two channels for two front components and bridge the other two for a sub. I will still want to run the rearfill from HUE. My problem as a newbie to how to connect the rca cable to the amp. The amp kit came with one RCA cable.
IS this what i do
1. use an 1 Line output converter for the front channels from the reciver and connect the RCA cord to that.
2. At the other end RCA cord. attach two Y-cables one for the left and one for the right.
3. Plug all four y channels into the amp
4. connect the rear speakers to the front reciver.
THANKS A LOT EVERYONE. any little advice will be awsome. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Message: Check to see if your amp has a 2-4 input setting that allows the front 2 and rear 2 channels to use a single input to both the front and rear channels. This would remove the need for the Y-cables.
If not, then you have it right, but be aware that the line level converter may not create sufficient signal strength to allow the Y-cable setup to work. I would think that it "should", but watch out for a low signal condition.
By the way, are you sure you want this type of setup? I'm not a big fan of speaker level input setups, but there are times when it is the best alternative.
