Message: I just installed an aftermarket stereo (JVC). At higher volumes I get a crackling noise in the speakers. This only happens when the engine is running. Am I picking up ignition noise? Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Message: Check your ground and then if it looks fine, run a better ground. If you're using the stock ground wire try grounding the head unit directly to the chassis.

Message: Good idea, but if that doesn't work, disconnect one speaker at a time and see if the noise is present in the others, could have a chaffed speaker wire.
Also, check your plug wires, if you've swapped to some low grade aftermarket wires, this might be the problem.

Message: Thanks for the help guys. Redid ground and all speaker wires. Got better but not completely gone yet. Would a bigger gauge wire help with the higher power output?
