Subject: Newer radio in older Dakota IP: Logged
Message: Is it possible to install a 2004 Mopar RBQ AM/FM stereo radio with integral six-disc CD player (Part #05091979AC)in a 1997 Dodge Dakota? It came out of a 2004 Jeep Liberty (my friend put in a sat radio).

Message: it should work, but there are two gotchas:
1) the faceplate is different on '02 and up radios, so the fit in the dash won't be the same
2) the RBQ uses bus messages for dimming, and the older dakotas used PWM. therefore, the radio illumination will always be at full brightness.
