i want to put a new head unit into my 2001 dak. i have an infinity stereo in there now, if i put a newer, smaller head unit in is it going to fit correctly? will it look funny? thanks for any help

I had a single din unit in my truck for a while and it looked fine. There is a kit that has the textured plastic to cover up all the empty space, but its a pain in the butt to install it. But once the kit is in you can take your radio in and out with out much trouble.
Check out Alpines 1.5 din CD, its pretty nice and fits without a kit.

Be careful buying a 1.5DIN head unit for a 2001. I bought a pioneer 1.5DIN and they don't make a install kit to match the rounded corners of the 01 with the square corners of the 1.5 DIN units. You can install it, but I didn't like the way it looked so I returned it and will probably just buy a CD changer.

I don't think that particular pioneer fits anything, the Alpine 1.5Din goes in without a kit and works great.
