First and foremost. Great site. I have been lurking here for quite some time and have picked up a ton of great information that has really helped me get my Dak just the way I wanted it.

Here is my question. I have to make a choice of amplifiers. The two in play are the following:

HiFonics Zeus - ZX8000 or

Soundstream EGA5700

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the brand choices and which you think is better.

Here is where I am coming from with my set-up. First and foremost, I have already replaced my head unit with a new Kenwood. I also have Polk Components going in both the front and back doors. I am doing the custom center console that will house a Polk / Momo 8" Sub, so now I am just looking for a 5 channel unit that will push the entire set up.

I am not going for competition quality sound, nor do I want to complicate things too much. Just want to keep it simple but effective.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the input...all things being equal, I can get them for around the same money. Initially I was going to go with the Hifonics, then Soundstream came into the picture.

Your feedback does help though, because all of the theory in the world is useless unless you know how the equipment performs in reality.

eh ya, either would be a good choice, but like i said, i own a hifonics, and once it comes time to buy an amp for my mids and high, im goin straight back to hifonics. they seem to be built really well, unlike some of the other ones. just make sure you are using good RCAs, and a thick enough wire to power it.

they seem to have the best bang for the buck, and isnt that what it comes down to? (well, if your anythin like me, it is)

good luck

Steve,

Thanks for helping me make up my mind. Your are right, its all about the bang for the buck and in this case, the HiFonics set up does seem to reign supreme. I will let you know which I ultimately go for and how the install goes.

Thanks
Dave

steveo, do a search on "posting pics". there is a string you need to insert the URL into to get it to appear on the forum. The string is something like img scr="your picrute url.xxx" with < at the beginning and > at the end of the string:)

Steve,

I'd love to see your trucks and will do my best to document the entire install process as well as the final result. It should prove to be really great once I get it all together.

alright. ill try that.

i have some pics of my build too, but they were takin with a POS camera. so they arent too good, but if i can figure out how to post em, i shall. also im gonna borrow my gf's good digital camera and take a few more pics.

ill try to get a few other pics of a few other things im doin to it too. tweeding the whole interior (once i can find some reasonably priced tweed), gonna shave the rear handle and tailgate and add a roll pan, many other things once the $$ starts comin in.

dsw, is there a way i can post pics other than from a website? say if i load them into paintbrush or photoshop, would i be able to bring the pics from there into here?

any help guys.

thanks,
steve
