I have a 99' Dak. with the factory infinity system. I was told that it uses an amp on each speaker in the truck. Then by someone else, i was told that the speakers have no amps. I orderd the truck new in Feb. of 99'. What is the right answer to this question? I have an sony head unit.

If you have the infinity system (if you have the tweeters by the A-pillar in the door you have the infinity system) then there should be an amp installed behind the kickpanel on the passenger side. It is a gray metal box with two wiring plugs plugged into the bottom of it...

At least on the 2002 models it produces 160 watts. I don't know if thats max wattage or RMS, someone else will have to answer that one..

I do have an amp. It has some numbers on it, and i hope someone knows what they mean? They are, 56043050AB. I also need to know what air space is needed for the JL 10w1s i have. I have 2 Soundstream Class A 3.0's, 1 Ref 300, and 1 Ref 200. I have the factory front speaker and i have new rears from pioneer. I am building a sub box for the 2 10w1s. What combo will work the best for my truck? All the amps are 2 channels. I've had all this in a 91' Jeep Wrangler, plus one more 10w1, 4 OZ 5 1/4s, 2 OZ tweeters, and 2 OZ 4". I sold the Jeep when i got the truck, and the only things i kept were the 3 subs, and 4 Soundstream amps. I will more than likely use one, 3.0 for the subs, and not sure what to do with the other amps? Give me some ideas, but i still want the stock look. And my head unit is a Sony CDX-C6850.

The factory amp I took out of my 99 CC also has those same exact numbers on them. My guess is that they are a part number that they came up with.

I took it out because I haven’t been using it for over a year now. I replaced the factory Infinity speakers with a set of Infinity Kappa’s because the factory speakers were dry rotting. I also wanted to use the crossovers that came with the new speakers. I also put in an aftermarket head unit, so I could play MP3s. I ran a different set of speaker wire for the front and rear and let the head unit power these, and I also run an aftermarket amp for my subs.

I’m only using one factory wiring harness. The one that has constant a 12v, ignition 12v, and the factory ground.

Can i use the fact. amp to run the rears, and my 2 ch. Soundstream to run the fronts? I have a Sony head unit, and i am useing another 2 ch. amp to run the 2 JL 10's? I thought of selling the other 3, 2 ch. Soundstream amps and get a 4 ch. instead. I am not sure what i will do, because i only have room for one more amp. What is the power output of the fact. amp? My head unit is 40wx4 max, 17w per ch. minimum continuous.

I don’t see why not. You will just have to trace the front wires to find out which is positive and which is negative and hook them up. My only draw back to this seems that you might be overdriving the factory speakers.

“What is the power output of the fact. amp? My head unit is 40wx4 max, 17w per ch. minimum continuous.”

To be completely honest I’m not sure. I was reading some of the post on here and there was some debate on what the specifications actually are. Some post say the amp is close to what your heads unit is putting out, and others claim around 60 watts (I think) RMS (or continuous power). I’m more likely to believe the first just because of the way companies will advertise their product to get someone to buy them (bigger, better, faster, more), and knowing what my ears are use to.

That’s just my 2cents.
