Subject: Stock Radio Help! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 Dakota with the stock CD/Cass Radio. My problem is that from time to time it sounds like the signal is coming in and out of tune. I watched the (ST) on the LED and it never goes out of tune, but that what it sounds like it's doing. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to there stocker? or Does it sound like I should try putting in a new antenna? Thanks for the help. Chris

Message: the antenna cable has a few places behind the dash where it connects to another segment of cable. These can come loose over time. try pulling the radio and following the antenna cable as far as you can.

Message: Mine did the same thing..only its cuz i pulled factory radio and had to pull on the Antenna cable cuz they left no slack at the factory. Well i pulled a little to hard and now my reception is shatty. So the cable runs behind the glovebox to the right fender..you may have to remove a fair amount of the dash or glovebox and all to get to the cable.
I recommend getting a Haynes manual or FSM or something. The Haynes are like $15 at Autozone.
