Subject: Electrical Problems PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! IP: Logged
Message: I just installed a new blaupunkt stereo into my 02' dakota and when i went to start my truck my gauges wouldn't work and all the lights on my dash came on. ive checked all fuses but the strange part was a message on my tripometer that said "no bus." If anyone has any idea what "no bus" means I would really appreciate it.

Message: The J1850 bus wire for the factory radio is shorted to something. Pull the radio out and make sure none of your wires are shorted.
* The J1850 bus is the main diagnostic bus for the entire vehicle. the instrument cluster gets all of its information over J1850. The radio uses J1850 for steering wheel controls, EQ curve loading, and speed controlled volume.

Message: Hey Jim Z....the only single wire connector on the back of my OEM radio is a purple wire with a yellow stripe that has a white rectangular connector on it. Is that the J1850 bus wire? Do I leave it unconnected if I install an aftermarket unit?
