Subject: Max Sub Box Volume IP: Logged
Message: By removing the rear tool tray in a cc genIII dak, how much volume could i get in a sub box for 2 12's while keeping the rear seat and not including a built in amp tray, i need at least 1 cubic foot per sub, and if neccessary, how hard would it be to raise the rear seats height to make more clearance for the box?

Message: This depends largely on the subs you get, the type of box, and how you build the box. My plans for a box in my 97 Dak CC are to remove the rear tool tray and seat hinges, and build a box for 2 10 inch Kicker L7s, or even 3 of the same, haven't measured yet so not sure of the size. I would then bolt the rear seats on to the top of the box, so the seats are still there and usable. I would either build an amp tray into this box or place amps under the front seats.
Anyone have a similar system? Pics and plans would be great if so.

Message: Check out the thread I just brought back up on 2 custom mdf/fiberglass boxes I made for my 2000 CC. They are for 10" subs and don't take up all the space below the seat. If you made one that went all the way across I think you could get 1.0 cuft out of each side.

Message: Thanks DSW, also I was wonderin, would it work to cut an openin in the bottom of each rear seat to mount the amps in, like frenchin them in, so when the seats are raised to show the subs, you could also see the amps, and would they get enough air circulation there to keep them from overheating?
