Message: I want to replace my JL 12w6 in my reg. cab 2003 Dakota. The problem is the sub barely fit in the truck box and I had to cut 3 inches off the side of the box to fit behind the seat. Now the w6 is blown. I want to replace it with possibly an Audiobahn compression pro AWP312T. I know it won't sound as good as the w6 but it will be loud(actually it should sound better concidering the 12w6 is blown...lol). And the fact is JL doesn't make a 12 anymore that will fit in a truck box. Any suggestions??

Message: MayB u could try orion sub, or memphis. Orion is suppose to be a little better then memphis, but I really like memphis, cause it is clear and throughs out some good sound with amp and sub.

Message: Im wondering how you managed to blow a JLw6?....possibly not properly adjusted/wired...make sure you do this one right and you wont have to downgrade again in the future.

Message: you could easily blow any sub if its in too small of a box..... (if it was a sealed box that is) was the box a Q-logic (QLT-.8512SE) like i have in my closet?
i used it for a little bit in my 98 reg cab dak, i had it longways (horizontaly) behind the pass seat (laugh all you want lol) it worked ok. but i finaly broke down and bought a solo baric s10L7 in a sealed truck box.
ah well time to stop rambling LoL

Message: Putting the woofer in an incorrectly size box is good way to ruin the sound and/or blow the sub. Thus a 10" in the right box will sound WAY better then a 12" in an undersized box.
You should always figure out the airspace as step one, then see what subs fit regardless of size in inches. If two smaller subs will work (and you have the power) they will outperform one larger sub all day long! It's all about displacement... hmmm where have we heard that before ;)
