What is SPL and what is SQ. I see it a lot but don't know what it is?

These are performance characteristics of subs/speakers.

spl=sound pressure level, in your case, a sub/speaker that has the ability to play at high volume levels.

sq=sound quality, a sub/speaker that can accurately reproduce audio signals.

Often one is sacrificed for the other for comparably priced subs/speakers.
