Subject: 2003 Dak Stereo in a 1999 Sebring IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 1999 sebring with the factory in dash tape and in dash 6 cd changer. I have the factory stereo out of my 2003 dak that has in dash CD and cd changer controls. will this stereo control the 1999 cd changer? I can figure out a way to wire and get it to fit as the sebrign seems to have the "old" style mounting (one top left bracket and one bottom right bracket) while the 2003 stereo has both top brackets.
Thanks,
Chris

No. The '99 CD changer uses M-bus to connect to the radio, and the '03 changer uses J1850 bus commands; the two are incompatible. Plus, the connector is different.
"I can figure out a way to wire and"
wiring is easy, you can get adapter harnesses from the dealer- the '99 uses the two 7-pin connectors with separate ground, and the '03 uses the new 22-pin single connector.

That's going to be hard. The '03 radios use the "precision mount" flush faceplate with four attachment points. You will have to do some modification to the Sebring's trim panel to get the faceplate of the '03 radio to fit properly.
