Message: From what I have gathered in my research, they are, in fact, 6 3/4 speakers, or oversized 6 1/2 speakers. When I looked through Crutchfield, only one pair from Pioneer was listed at 6 3/4, but 6 1/2 will fit with the right mounting plates, either from someone like Crutchfield or ones you make yourself.

David

Message: They are 6 3/4" front and back.
You can also use 6.5", just cut a piece of 1/2 or 3/4" medium density fiberboard to fit the new speaker. Then trace the old speaker over that hole, then cut it. You then have a spacer ring, that will allow you to have a better selection of speakers to choose from. The original speaker holes are hard to match up and you generally don't want a metal speaker basket against a metal frame, it will rattle later on. Run down to Wal-mart and get you a $30 jigsaw, $10 piece of wood and go at it, it's simple.
