Subject: reg. cab subs IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 1998 Dakota reg. cab. I plan on putting subs behind the seat but i dont know what size would fit due to the space behinfd the seat. what size would be good to fit and how many subs would i be able to put behind the seat and just wondering if putting the amp under the seat would be a good idea.
thanks

Message: if you dont want to cram something behind your seat or have to scoot up your seat, then ur prolly looking at 8" subs. but there are ppl that have put like dual 10s and i believe even a 12 behind a reg. cab, but they scoot up their seat. i personally just bought a rf 8" sub, amp, and box, and i wont have to scoot up my seat at all (7 inch at bottom, 4 inch at top (box dimensions)..

Message: im having the same problem, but I am choosing to go with some Kicker Solobarics, you can get some real bump out of little airspace. A little on the pricey side (like $120 for a 10 on Ebay)

Message: I got the 10" infinity kappa perfect sub w/a Q logic truck style box from crutchfield:

that is the link.
If you wanted to modify the back wall carpeting you could probably get away with having your seat all the way back...but with just basically sticking the box back there you need to move up the seat...thats why i put it on the passenger side :).
You can go back almost all the way...but then you are sitting straight up, and then to recline you need to move the seat up a little. Its not too bad, i have a friend thats about 6' or so, and he can ride in it pretty comforably.
I wouldnt recommend it on the driver side tho, and sitting in the passenger seat with that sub nocking (its an AWESOME sub) is really annoying after a while...i'll admit to that.
The amp i got (kicker KX600.1) fits perfectly under the seat w/the shroud removed.

Message: I have 2 12's behind my seats. I built a custom box that has a 12 behind each seat and a amp recess in the middle. I lost about an inch of seat travel with this but then again I am only 5 7 so the inch really didnt make a difference. It costed me around 50 to build including all materials.I still have the plans if anyone is interested lemme know!
