i have a Punch 401s(1200 watts) pushing two JL 12's. i have them in my box in my dakota. when i have the punch bass knob turned half way it is like the speaker plugged into the right side of my amp is getting more watts than the other. i thought it was the speaker so i switched them and it still does it with the speaker hookeds to the right. when i turn the knob all the way up they hit fine but it is just when i have it half way or below.

Check your gains, one is probably turned up higher than the other.

Is the amp bridged or are you running the subs in stereo off the L & R channels? If it's in stereo I would bet the gains are not equal. The gains might look like they are in the same position, but I found on my 301S that one of them had to be slightly higher to get equal volume out of the channels.

The bass boost control is connected to the amp with a 2pr phone cord. If one if these pairs is cut or not connecting properly it could cause a problem, try a different phone cord. Have you tried disconnecting the boost box to see if it's causing the problem? How about speaker wire, it it the same guage and approximately the same length? RCA's can cause some weird problems also. How about swapping the RCA's connected to the amp to see if it changes the problem.

Hard to tell what the problem is without looking at it, but see if these pointers help out.
