Subject: another hifonics amp question IP: Logged
Message: ok.. so i found the brutus BX1000D for about 220$
it says its rated 1000rms @ 1 ohm and it will be powerin 2 dvc 4 ohm L5s wired down to 1 ohm (450 rms a peice). so it should work..
now my question is, i was lookin at reviews for it and most are good, then i came across this...
"Upon recieving this item today in the mail I was disappointed quite a bit, thinking I would recieve my 1000 watts rms. This amp is great don't get me wrong. But the specs on it are somewhat inaccurate. The BX1000D Brutus is said to pump 1000 watts @ 1 ohm. Afraid to tell you all this but it only pumps out 700 watts at 1 ohm, 400 at 2 ohms and 250 watts at 4 ohms (this is all stated withing the manual). This is still a solid amp and almost has no current draw whatsoever..."
so is it really only 700x1 @ 1 ohm, or is this guy a moron? cause if its only 700.. im passin up the offer
any input?

Message: It does 1000 watts: 250 @ 4, 500 @ 2, 1000 @ 1.
All Hifonics amps double thier power in the next lower ohm load (where stable). Hifonics rates their amp conservatively, thus if they say 700 watts, it will do 900 to 1000.
You would not even notice that difference anyway... because your ears are not linear thus it takes almost double the watts to make a significate change in output. In other words: a 1000 watt amp does not sound TWICE as loud as a 500 watt one. It sounds about twice as loud as a 250 watt amp in comparison actually.

Message: Do a search on Caraudioforum.com to see more info on that amp as well. im sure there is alot of reviews on there.. i chill on there all the time and peple talk about hifonics almost everyday most of the time being good reveiws never rly heard of them being overated. i would trust them and you would prolly not notice the diff if it was running 800 to 1000.... though only if you actually tested it

^you think i can trust this place?
only reason i said i didnt want it was that i was told the L5s dont sound the greatest unless they are given full power (450 each).
ill let ya know how it goes.
