Message: I have no experience in making a box or anything ilke that, so i'm just wondering exactly how hard is it to make one? Is it worth doing that instead of going to best buy and having them do it for me?

Message: It depends on how "custom" you want it. The hardest part is the finished look, like carpeting & vinyl is hard to do. The other part is measuring, cutting the wood and assembly. Just depends on your skill level with power tools and a measuring tape. Your high school geometery skills will be needed big time as you'll have to calculate volume and angles.
My buddy has a table saw and that is a HUGE help as all cut must be perfectly straight so all the pieces line up to make the box air tight.
The cost of the materials are so cheap it's worth a shot yourself if your the handy-man type or know someone who is that can help.
