Would 10" tweeters fit behind the seats of my Dak and could I mount 1" woofers in the door by the mirrors. LOL

Also would it be OK to run 24 ga power wire from the cigarette lighter to my 1000W amp and then ground it to the ball of my hitch receiver. LOL

Hey was this the type of rookie questions you were talking about?

Exactly, like I'm going to get a new system how do I start?

Duh!
First for all you rookies out there. Go do some research first and if you cant find the answers out there in e-world or in the real world then please by all means post your problems. But to me some of you seem like 16yr old, zit faced kids who can only afford a system by using pop's money.

Let me get this straight. Your 16 years old and you bought a 98' Dodge Dakota "by yourself" bought two 12" subs "by yourself" and put a drop kit in it "by yourself". I don't see how a 16 year old kid can afford a 98' Dodge Dakota. Hell you probably dont even make enough to pay for the insurance let alone the gas too. At 16 thats gotta be atleast $200 a month. The truck alone probably costs atleast 7k. So you been working since you were what about 10? Sorry to see that you had to of dropped out of school to afford that. You know McDonald's doesn't really pay that much.
Get Real dude!

But of course if mommy and daddy co-signed the loan and put down the deposit I can see that. But technicly if this is the case then you havent bought the truck. Buying/owning a truck is paying the total cost. Hell I'm just wondering how long it took to save up for taxes and liscencing. I'd really like to know how much you kids make woking at McDonald's for 15 hours a week. Let's see $6.50 x 15 = $100 - taxes = about $80 a week x 4 = $320. per month. LOL. So for a $7k truck that'd take about 1.5 years without spending a flat penny. Which you'd have no money for gas, insurance, speakers, drop kits, spending money, video games, etc., etc. Unless you have dropped out of school and if this is the case then I dont mean to trample on a dead mans grave. But if you had dropped out and got a full time job. Then you'de surely have to pay rent. Which app. $100-200 per month. So, let me put it to you kids this way. There's no way in hell you paid for your trucks/systems by yourself!

So Eric, why are you negative about the rookies? You were a rookie at one time too, everyone was. This forum is a great place for everyone to discuss things and learn from each other. Like you never asked a real dumb question and the other guy gave you a realy stupid look back like, what are you an idiot or something.

Or is this a mommy/daddy giving them everything envy thing. My folks never gave me anything like a vehicle, had to work my azz off at my dad's business after school everyday and Saturday to have a nice truck. No Work, No Truck, No Insurance, No Gas, No Tunes!

Yeah it grates my azz seeing a 16 year old driving around a Cadillac Escallade that mommy and daddy bought them, but your stereotyping the rookies on this forum. Doubt the guy asking how to hook up a couple of 10's and an amp in his 10 year old Dak was spoiled by his parents.

Sorry, it just kinda bothers me that some kids now days have just about every toy they could possibly want and that they are to lazy to take the time to open a book and understand the ins and outs of building a great system. My problem is that when I have a complicated question to ask no one knows the answer but when someone asks something really basic they get all sorts of replies. So Im not really flaming the young folks im flaming this chat forum for being well a little less knowledgable than I would expect.

Hey Eric shut your mouth. Dude you are so stupid. I have 2 jobs. I work 5 days a week n Make enough money to pay for my 99 dakota club cab with only 36000 miles on it. Thats $220 a month its self. Sure my dad got me a loan but he doesnt pay a penny of it. I got a 2003 Polaris Predator and pay $100 a month on that. I pay insurence with is anotha $100 a month to. I have enough to get gas whenever I want. I have a Pioneer 7500 head unit with Ample Audio coaxels and componets. Which I paid for all by myself. O ya when I was 14 I paid cash for my 2002 Yamaha TT-R 125L dirt bike. I sold that for my down payment on my truck which was $2000. You just dont understand that some kids are brought up right and have jobs and ear what they get. Hell I prolly make more money than you do. LOL

Sorry Zack. You dont own any of that. It has all been loaned to you. But thats not bad. I figure you pay atleast $500 a month. And as for making as much as me kid, I dont think so. Hell, I know you dont. How old are you anyway? BTW How did you earn $2000 at 14? Have you ever heard of child labor laws? And if you actually did earn that much before 14 by yourself then you are doing better than 99.9% of everyone else.

Sorry Eric, but I am 17, and am making $12.00 an hour, idk what rock you live under, but here in NJ that is enough to pay for my nice 1997 Dakota sport V8, the $35.00 dollar fill on the tank twice a week on the 13MPG, and my whole system installed, (about $1750) plus all of my interior mods. I have been saving since I was about 15, and I also have to pay my insuranse which in NJ is about $3000 a year for someone my age with a completely clean reccord. I dont know how you were brought up, but some kids can have a nice truck and pay for it too. You can take that and shove it. have a nice day

Eric I am 16 and yes I do know about child labor laws and I could care less. I was happy that a 14 I could get a brand new dirt bike. If I keep this up I will hopefully be doing pretty good in the money departement all my life. Just dont go after the young kids. We can make a living at a young age.

I just have to get on this. Well I am 18 and I am paying for my 99 CC myself. My payment is $300.38 a month and the insurance is $123 a month plus the gas I have to pay for. I have a new Kicker S15L7 that I paid for myself. With a 1000 watt amp and new Pioneer headunit which I paid for those myself also. Us "kids" can have a job and pay for this stuff ourselves. I am a senior in high school and am still holding my job and paying for this stuff. I average about 32-36 hours a week. SO I think that I am doing pretty good. And I plan on upgrading my system soon.
