Message: Fosgate recommends a sealed box volume of approximately .375-1.75 cubic foot for those DVC subs. With two subs in one dual chamber box(partition in middle so each sub is in their own space for best sound quality and structural rigidity), a low-end boom set-up would be @ 3.52cf. The "golden ratio" for size at @ 3.5cf would be 18.25"Wx14.5"Hx23"D. As you can see these subs require alot of airspace, you can go smaller and get much tighter base @ 2.3cf, 15.75"Wx12.5"Hx19.9"D. Depends on your space and the type of music you listen to most. Fosgate also gives specs to build a ported enclosure and my calculations show that the box for those two subs would be best mounted in the truck bed for space reasons:) Good Luck and happy box building, I suggest using 3/4-1" MDF with wood glue used at all joints and 1"-1 1/4" coarse thread sheet rock screws using a 9/32" drill bit for pilot holes to prevent cracking or splitting MDF. I use an air brad nailer which works best and is really fast. Make sure you silicone every joint and wire entry holes inside box to prevent air leakage. Cover with your choice of box carpet and admire your work:)
If you have a certain space you are trying to fit your sub box into and the above suggested sizes are not going to work, give me the dimensions of the space available and I can tell you the best dimensions of the box to fit into that space.

Message: you're right XTREM, but to make up a little bit for the air spcae that i didnt have, i stuff polyfill in the boxes, doesnt compensate for everthing, but it helps, instead of orering ut from crutchfield for $8 a lbs, i bought a body pillow at K-Mart for $7, i pack the boxes full of it, and i still hade some left over, so there is my solution, my tens sound good too. And vey tight and accurate bassssss, might i add!! I think these boxes have about .75 cubic ft. air space. i might be wrong though, the pioneer subs called for .88 cb ft

Message: I am using a Pioneer 10" and the sealed box is .95cuft with about 1 lb of polyfill. Most people don't believe it is only 1-10" when they first hear it:) I use the polyfill batting in tight places to fool the speaker into thinking it is in a larger box. It really does work well. You can get about 10-15% volume "increase" by using the polyfill. You normally do not want to fill up the inside of box with more than 30-40% of loose polyfill, using anymore can actually reduce the volume because it still does take up physical air space. You might want to try and take some out if you put alot in, you may notice even tighter bass:)

Message: It could, the sub will make the difference, just experiment with different amounts of batting to find the sound and thump you like.

Message: I am building one right now! The dimensions are 18" wide by 16 inches high and 9 inches deep on the bottom and 4 inches deep on the top! They are both going to be connected to one 48 inch long peice that was custom built for the hump in the back with the removal of the jack mount so it fits in Nice and snug!
There is also a partition in the middle which is about 12 inches wide for amp installation! Some of the measurements were changed slightly so if these numbers dont add up thats why!
I will be happy to take pictures for anyone of the box with it out of the truck and installed! I can also give all the dimensions if you wanna build one like mine!
I also made the front hang over about 2 inches to compensate for the hump and give it the look of being on the floor! I am planning on using 10's with it. I have 12's right now in truck boxes and it sounds pretty good!

Message: Just writing this cause I came across 2THEXTRM's reply's and he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about - The smaller the sealed box is - the BOOMIER the box gets (louder as well and more effecient)....the larger the box is, the deeper and tighter it will go, but needs more power. Just thought i'd clear that up. And BTW - I'll put my 10" up against yours 2THEXTRM :) I hit 147 with my 10. But I'm selling it - i hate SPL. SQ all the way

Message: Idontknowaudio, actually your wrong. The smaller the box is the less effecient it is.
Think about it, if you have one ten in a .5cu box vs a ten in a 2cu box with the same powered amp which one do you think will be louder?

Message: Smaller box = louder BUT at a higher frequency. This goes for sealed or ported designs. Check the response curves on the technical pages at Kicker's website if you don't believe me.
So Iknowaudio is correct.
