Subject: rattleing subs IP: Logged
Message: Hi, I have a 2000 dakota RC 4x4. It has the optional infinity 6 speaker sound system. The subs in the doors rattle, at least the driver side does and its buggin the crap out of me. I was wonderin if anyone new of a soulution to this problem or what size these subs are. I was thinkin about mabey swappin them out for some JLAudios or somethin higher quality. Keep in mind that im not lookin for tons and tons of bass just want that damn rattlein to go away.

Message: well if you swap them out with a higher quality speaker then you wil probably get more rattling, so you should get some dynomat to stop the rattling. But I would reccommend that you do go ahead and get a higher quality speaker so that it would sound better. The optional infinity speaker are not a good as the after market infinity.

Message: I just bought some JL Auudio TR650-CXi's to replace the stockers. They fit perfect but the rattleing is worse. But before it was the speaker and now its just the door so a bought some liquid nail and i am in the process of sealing it up as best as i can. The JLs are much more clear however. They ran me 140 for the pair.

Message: The door lock rod and door handle rod were ratteling in my 00 Dak. Just needed to move the foam silencers back into the correct position and put a dab of glue to hold them there.
Take the door panel off, crank up the speaker in the door, bang on the door and see what's ratteling, then silence the rattle. No need to add 20# of Dynomat for ratteling rod, though the Dynomat will kill some road noise. I have aftermarket Infinity's in the door amped at 50W/ch and don't have any rattles after fixing the rods.
Might be better to use a sealer that doesn't harden rock hard like Liquid Nails, try silicone or even better DAP Butyl-Flex Rubber Sealant. The Butyl-Flex stays tacky, flexable and won't dry and harden all the way like. Good to deaden noise, but you want to put it where it wont be touched when finished since it does not dry completely, kind of like the black crap that holds on the plastic behind the door panel.

Message: i also put some weather striping around some of the corners. now that i can hear the JLs clearly they have my full recomendation. they only put out a little more bass but the bass is much more clear and u dont get that muffeled sound like with the infenitys.
