Message: I have a 94 single cab (the one with like 4-6 inches behind me)- and i've been wanting to put a sub in my truck. I know that the JBL Stealth sub is for CLUB cabs, which is not what i have, and i know that the ppl with like 3 12" subs, have EXTENDED cabs, which is not what i have.
Could ppl please tell me what they have in a single cab (three seater), preferably a year near mine? Is it possible to add a sub box behind there? Does it have to be custom-made? A 8 inch sub means the circle part of the speaker is 8 inch diameter, but the actual depth isn't necessarily 8 inches, right? So i could perhaps fit a 6 of 8 inch sub behind my truck? How about this sub called - clarion srv303- look at sounddomain.com- has anybody heard/seen of this? it is only 3 inches deep.
One important underlining circumstance is not A) I'm not a audio expert, nor a car expert, so I will not be able to cut my truck's interior up, or take my seat out, and stuff like that, although my dad does know quite alot about cars, so if i did buy a powered sub that fitted, he could PERHAPS help me do the wiring to the battery and so on, but im not totally sure
and
B) I'm a broke teenager without a job, but i have about 200 bucks saved up, and a 60 dollar best buy certificate- i could buy amp wiring/hookup kits there..
So should i just wait til i have more money? Do you think a place like best buy/circuit city/ovation will install a sub system, even if i did not buy it from their store, and how much do you think an installation would cost? $100?
Thanks truly go out for any responses; I know I am probably asking too many questions, but you can even email me if you would like to help me at rscheidt1@yahoo.com
PS If it helps any, i have a sony cdx mp30 deck with rca preouts, two 5.5 inch xplods front and 2 5X7 pioneer rears- also why are "compenent" speakers so much?- like 300 compared to only 100 for "regular" speakers?

Message: ok its not as hard to do as you may think. Just don't rush in, research KNOW what you want. I say go to some car audio stores listen to different subs and what not and remember you get what you pay for. also ur question about 8" being diameter you are correct it is measured across, mounting depth varies from sub to sub. i think with ur $200 you should be able to find a good 8" sub and an amp to power it, but the thing i don't know about is the box or enclosure size you will need since i have an x-cab
best buy/circuit city/ovation will install a sub system will install a system usually even if its not bought there, the only thing is they may charge you more then your willing to pay.
hope this helps ya
anything else you need just ask
