Subject: subs in a 99 CC IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering, should i put one 12in sub or two 10's into my truck. I have the 12 laying around so i figured I may use it. Also any suggestions on where to mount the 12in, I plan on building a box to replace my toolbox under the rear seat, I was just wondering should i locate it behind the driver, or the passanger seat. If I use the 10's i would put one behind both, but im not sure where to place the 12 if i us that. Thank you

Message: If it were me, I would forget about the 10's and 12's all together and get one 8. Thats right one 8 inch woofer. JL Audio offers a Stealthbox which is perfectly formed to fit under the rear seat of the club cab Dakotas that we drive. The Stealthbox takes the place of the storage compartment under the back seat but leaves the jack compartnment still accessible. Plus the woofer is a w6 (very, very bad-ass). I haven't heard or seen this box in person but I am familiar with JL subs and they are the most impressive on the market. One of my co-workers has two 8w3 (a lower quality woofer than the 8w6) and his system is louder than most systems around. This is just my opinion on what subs for the CC model as this is what I'm planning to put into mine. I hope all goes well in your search and installation of your system.

Message: To find out more about the stealthbox for the CC Dakota, visit this link:
http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/dakota.html
Installation is very easy for the woofer and instructions can be found at this link:
http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/pdf_files/SB_D_DAKEXT_8W6.pdf
Also, advantages to the stealthbox are that its hidden so has a less chance of being stolen, still allows access to all seats in the cab, allows amp wiring mount so that sub nor amp are exposed.

Message: I bought an Unloaded MTX Thunderform at www.MaximumThump.com and put my own JBL's in it. It fits under my rear seat and holds 2 10" subs.
It was the best price I'd seen around and it sounds great.
Check it out.

Message: I've been reading threads on ways of building clean sub enclosures for the gen III cc. I decided to try using my existing storage compartment as the basis for my enclosure. Turned out pretty cool. Only carnage to the factory equip. is (8) 3/16" holes in the lip of the compartment and I can still haul three people in the back. I'm going to build a new lid for the jack compartment to bring the two seats level. The DVC 8" sub won't rattle any windows, but it kicks pretty good for under $250 for woofer, amp, materials.
