Subject: CB advice for antenna?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a couple of those portable 40 channel CB radios and was thinking of adding an antenna to the truck to plug it into while driving. I realize this is not the best quality unit, but it is more for fun than need. I bought two for camping trips and caravaning with friends, so we can reach each other when there are no cell towers around. However, I realize that the small antenna doesn't work that well.

So I was wondering if those converters that plug into the AM/FM antenna work any better than the 1' flexible mast on the unit, or if there is a significant advantage to an AM/FM/CB antenna that replaces the stock AM/FM unit and doesn't look much different. I just don't want a huge mast sticking up behind me for a CB that is in the truck 3% of the time.

Do any of you have any suggestions or comments?

thanks!
