Subject: What 10" do I want? IP: Logged
Message: I have a Kenwood Excelon 2 channel 600w amp in my reg. cab that I bought used from friend along with 2 10" Polk speakers. The speakers really stink and I want to know everybodies opinions on what they think I should throw in my truck. I have two sealed 1 cubic foot 10" boxes beind my seats. I dont think I need subs over 300 watts, I dont go that loud very often.

Message: Depends on my mood. I normally listen to rock, anywhere from old stuff like Led Zeplin or new stuff like Chevelle to Perfect Circle. I listen to some (some...) Techno (White Zombie, and so forth), If I am feeling like a pimp I listen to stuff like Ludacriss. I even occaisionally listen to classical music. It all depends on what I feel at what time. I play bass myself so I'll also listen to stuff like Primus and Oyster Head. As long as it's got a good beat or lyrics I'm there. Just about the only thing that I don't listen to much is country. Hope I don't offend anyone. Thanks for you interest. So I guess I am looking for somthing that can sound good in a myriad of different music styles, just as long as when I want my bass I get it loud and clear. Just the way the original artist intended it to sound.

Message: Thanks for the input. I went to edesignaudio.com but i didn't see the Q series so I figured you ment the O series. They seem like pretty resonable subs. I have to admit that I have never heard of them before though. I think that I would stay with th K series between 150-400watts. I think it's better to stay close to your amps power range. Since mine is at 300 per sub that should fit my range pretty well. I still would like to have a few more options with what you all think. Thanks for your opinions

Message: Elemental Designs makes awesome subs.
Never thought I'd hear them mentioned on this site.
Go for them. The Infinity Perfect isn't bad either, but I'd still go with the ED K's first.

Message: Next thing to do is save a little more dough. Also, what do you think about getting some components. Are they 5 1/4's or 6 1/2? I want components because everything else is two, or three way. The tweeters are seperate in our trucks anyways, so I might as well get somthing that filters out anything low from getting into them and have a better sound. There are a bunch of diferent brands. From about $400 with the Infinity Perfect 6.1, JBL P650's, down to about $125 with the JBL GTO605c's. What do you think?

Message: I'm not sure what Polk subs they are I havn't really looked into it. My friend got them in the sealed boxes so I'm sure they are lower quality. But if all they need is more power than I will find out what they are and probably sell them. I don't need more that 600 watts of subs. With the power I have they don't hit hard at all. I ran into a guy with only a 300 watt sony amp that hit just as hard as mine.

Message: Does your Kenwood say 600 watts on the front?
If so, it really is rated at 300rms, most likely.
